Lot49 Take Miami Compilation

With a sea of commercial house and uninspiring so called Electronica labels all making claim to Miami’s legendary Music conference its now the turn for London’s infamous Lot 49 to show their stones. TAKE MIAMI is unlike any other Miami Compilation. It’s a low slung multi genre album that ranges from heavy heads down Breaks to jacking Techno and dirty electro. The sound that has been immortalized and is referred to around the world as ‘Tech-Funk’ has been associated with Lot 49 and it has become the label of choice for this sound.

The label have hosted a slew of successful ‘Free’ parties in Miami since 2004 and again unlike any other label who seem to have forgotten that a quality night out should come before the hard dollar. Their twisted underground parties have become the place to be for established and up and coming producer/Dj’s who get a chance to hear this taste making crew delivering the underground event of Miami.

Compiled by label Boss Dylan Rhymes for the forward thinking Dj and listener.

Sturdy Podcast 002 – Brian Thomas – Future Funk

Brian Thomas has been busy in the last few years making his mark as a DJ and producer in the Orange County area. He has been throwing events for years now with a goal of bringing a fresh perspective to the local EDM scene. In the last year Brian has booked and played alongside such acts as Uberzone, Kid Blue, Frankie Bones and Barry Weaver, to name a few.  Brian has also been busy in the studio first with his EP “The Drop” (which had a heavy remix from Kid Blue), and also pumped out a remix for Simply Jeff’s label Beyond Zilla.  Brian Has another EP due out in August with remix duties from the State-Side-Tech-Funk duo Sifter and Adan, and also has a few more up his sleeve due out before the end of the year.  Brian is full throttle with the progression of the “Anti-Genre” (as Elite Force would put it) Tech-Funk in the US, and for this reason he is proud to become a part of the Sturdy Family.

Meat Katie and Dylan Rhymes / Only You / Free Download Incl

Dylan Rhymes & Meat Katie feat. Iconical “Only You” Pt.1 by LOT49

Considering these guys share a studio in leafy suburban town of Kingston, its a rare occasion that you get to hear them on the same record, the last being ‘Role player/Long Acre’ back in 2009. This time around they have drafted in the vocal talents of Ashley Slater & Kristian Booth under their ‘Iconical’ moniker.

‘Only You’ is a brooding slab of melting electro trash! The rising bass-line is relentless and glorious in its peaks while it carries with it a classic acid house type feel (think Renegade Soundwave, Nitzer Ebb, Fini Tribe + Meat Beat Manifesto). As our boy Lee coombs puts it… ‘Its the Future sound of Retro’.

Three upcoming producers have been drafted in on remix duties. Brighton based Echo Vacio strip the whole track back and deliver a slamming peak-time Techno workout. Germany’s new young hopefuls Switchbox give an atmospheric tech-house interpretation that maintains the mood of the original and last but not least Stockholm’s Haggstrom funks it up and adds some bounce to the proceedings.

Another diverse package from Lot49 – so here’s what the critics say…
